Maoist leader killed in WB encounter

Kolkata, Feb 5 (IBNS) A Maoist leader was killed in an encounter with the combined forces in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Sunday.

Police said the deceased leader of the Maoist is identified as Yudhistir alias Arjun. The encounter occurred at Belpahari region of West Midnapore´s Jangalmahal.

The killing of the Maoist is seen as a major success of the combined forces after the killing of top Maoist leader Kishenji last year November.

Kishenji was killed on Nov 24 in an encounter between the rebels and the security forces in the forests of West Midnapore.

The body of Kishenji was recovered after the encounter along with an AK 47 rifle from the forest of Kushboni under Jambooni police station area.
