Maoists blow up railway track in WB

Kolkata: Maoists blew up a railway track between Godapiyasal and Midnapore in West Bengal on Sunday night, disrupting railway services between Midnapore and Adra, TV reports said.

According to reports, top railway officials have reached the spot and several trains were stranded at different stations.

A two-day bandh called the rebals across West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh as well as three districts of Maharashtra began on Monday.

The bandh has been called in protest against the against Operation Greenhunt, the Centre's offensive against Maoists.The bandh also protests the Union Budget, which the Maoists have labelled as anti-poor.

All the six states are on high alert.

Several other incidents of Maoist violence are being reported as the day progresses.
