Ranchi/New Delhi Jan 10 (IBNS) Maoists in Jharkhand booby-trapped the bodies of security personnel by planting bombs inside them after an encounter two days ago that killed 13 people, including nine CPPF troopers, police said on Thursday.
Jharkhand Director General of Police G S Rath told IBNS: "We removed 2 kilograms of explosives from one body besides detonator."
He said it is inhuman and informed that nine CRPF men, one Jharkhand cop and three civilians (villagers) were killed in the encounter on Jan 8 in Latehar district.
Ranchi Special Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh told IBNS that one body of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan killed in the encounter on Jan 8 in Latehar district blew up while the bomb inside him was being diffused but another body was successfully operated for removal of the bomb in Ranchi.
"We suspected explosives inside after we found stitching in the bodies. We called the bomb disposal squad but one bomb went off while it was being removed," said Singh.
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi during his monthly briefing said in the hilly and forested areas the explosion occurred from the body which was booby-trapped.
"It was detected during an X-Ray," said Shinde, adding that the Maoists keep resorting to new tactics of causing harm.
