Ranchi, Jan 10 (IBNS) Maoists in Jharkhand booby-trapped the bodies of security personnel by planting bombs inside them after an encounter two days ago killed ten policemen, including nine CPPF troopers, police said on Thursday.
Ranchi Special Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh told IBNS that a body of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan killed in an encounter with the rebels on Jan 8 in Latehar district blew up while the bomb inside was being diffused while another body was successfully operated for removal of the bomb.
"We suspected after we found stitching in the bodies. We called the bomb disposal squad but one bomb went off while it was being removed," said Singh.
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will hold a press conference on Thursday evening to narrate the latest tactics of the Maoists who chose to booby trap the bodies.
"I am aware two bodies were used as booby traps," said Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram who was formerly the home minister.
Jharkhand Director General of Police G S Rath said the Maoists were using inhuman methods now.
"Nine CRPF men and one local police man of Jharkhand were killed in the encounter," Saket Kumar Singh told IBNS.
