New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a Maulana, accused of misusing his position and having ‘‘unnatural sex’’ with four minors at his madrassa on Roshanara Road in Shakti Nagar.

The North District police swung into action after receiving complaints from Ghaziabad Police and arrested the maulana under IPC Section 377.

Sagarpreet Hooda, DCP (north) said that he had received a complaint through the SSP office of Ghaziabad. Prima facie and had enough evidence against the accused.

Four boys, aged between 11 and 17 years, had alleged that Maulana Imran sexually abused them and thrashed them whenever they resisted him.

The four boys fled from the madrassa and reached Ghaziabad where they approached the police. The SSP of Ghaziabad, Raghubir Lal, took suo motto cognizance of the complaint and registered a case. The boys alleged that madrassa teachers used to call them inside the rooms and asked them to massage their feet and forced themselves on the kids.

The madrassa administration, however, refuted the charges and said that it is an effort to malign their image.

Bilal Ahmed, headmaster of the madrassa, said that the children are lying.

“The children are being taught to tell lies. I am teaching here for the last two years and have never heard Maulana Imran taking any advantage or favour from the students. He rarely gets time to interact with them,” said Bilal.

The madrassa, which is housed inside the Alla-Hu-Masjid built more than a century ago near the famous Roshanara Bagh, has two rooms for teaching. More than 30 children, all in the age group of 10-15 years get pre-primary and primary education there.
