MCKV Institute of Engineering (MCKVIE) on Saturday organised Technotica 2013, an intra-college competition in technology and engineering competition, here.
The third and final year students of MCKVIE participated in the competition for the final rounds.
The students worked on various interesting projects like Intelligent Traffic System, Fruitarelogio, Intelligent Irrigation, Gas Leakage Alarm and Anti Petrol Theft Alarm.
´Fruitarelogio´ a project made by a three students team, is a technique where the battery can be charged using fruits like Apple, Amla, Lemon and Orange. The fruit has to be changed after twelve days.
The ´Gas Leakage Alarm´ has been made for domestic purposes specially for middle-class families.
The alarm goes on automatically if any gas leakage happens and it can also alert via notifications through SMS to the person concerned. For this the concerned person has to register his/her phone number.
It can also give fire alarm. The alarm costs around Rs 500 which is quite affordable for a middle-class family.
The ´Anti Petrol Theft Alarm´ gives an alarm tune if somebody tries to steal petrol from the car´s petrol tank. The device is workable within a range of 500 ft from the car.
Ex Head of the Department and Emeritus Professor of Jadavpur University Manish Kumar Mukherjee, Director of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) A N Chowdhury and Vice Principal of MCKVIE Tirthankar Dutta were present at the occasion.
The initial round for this mega competition started with 54 teams in the first phase out of which 15 teams were selected for the final project design.
