India scored 214 runs for the loss of three wickets in their first innings against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground at the end of second day of the first Test match on Tuesday.
Rahul Dravid (68*) and I Sharma (0*) will resume the proceedings on Wednesday.
India lost the wickets of V Sehwag (67), Gautam Gambhir (3) and Sachin Tendulkar (73) on day two of the first Test match.
V Sehwag gave India a solid start before Pattinson picked up his wicket. Sachin Tendulkar was in good touch and scored 73 runs very quickly.
Tendulkar and Dravid added 117 runs in the third wicket partnership after Australians dismissed both Gambhir and Sehwag.
Tendulkar hit eight boundaries and a massive six in his innings.
Australian pacer Siddle bowled Tendulkar at the fag end of the day and gave the home side a much needed break.
Pattinson, Hilfenhaus and Siddle have picked one wicket each so far.
Earlier, Australian first innings came to an end at 333 runs.
