The world of Twitter added one more celebrity user on Thursday as US First Lady Michelle Obama joined the popular micro-blogging site.
234,177 followers are already following her account.
"We´re excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President´s campaign," the first tweet posted by @MichelleObama mentioned.
The second post ensured the followers that the account will be maintained by the Obama Campaign.
The high-profile account will be used purely as a tool of campaigning for US President Barack Obama during the upcoming Presidential elections.
However, the US First Lady made her first comment in the micro-blogging site as she tweeted: "Hi, everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Look forward to staying in touch with you here. -mo."
Michelle is following only five accounts so far that include the official Twitter account of White House and US President Barack Obama.
