Militants gunned down two policemen and critically injured a top doctor in Pampore town of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama District on Thursday.
Inspector General of Police, Abdul Gani Mir, said that three rebels indiscriminately opened fire at cardiologist Sheikh Jalal-ud-din and his two security guards at his residence, 16 kilometres away from Srinagar.
Two guards died on the spot, while the 64-year-old doctor suffered head injury and was rushed to nearby hospital.
"All of a sudden three terrorists emerged from that side and they fired indiscriminately on them. Doctor Jalal is injured and he is in hospital presently and the two constables-they have been martyred," said Mir. (ANI)
