Diphu (Assam), Aug 13 (IBNS): One person was killed and four others were injured as suspected Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants opened fire on borders of Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts in Assam early Saturday.
According to reports, the militants started firing at a truck and another vehicle around 5.20am on National Highway 37.
The truck driver died on the spot, while four passengers of the other vehicle were injured critically.
The critically-injured people includes two senior leaders of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).
Meanwhile, a 60-hour KPLT bandh crippled life in Karbi Anglong and NC Hills districts. The extremists are protesting against the alleged indifference of the Centre in initiating peace talks with them.
