New Delhi: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said the Liberhan Commission report on the Babri Masjid demolition was not leaked to the media by his department and it is in the safe custody of the ministry.

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, leader of Opposition L K Advani and former BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi have been indicted by the Justice Liberhan Commission, probing the Babri Masjid demolition, Indian Express reported on Monday.

The newspaper report created a ruckus in Parliament.  "The report has only one copy. It is in my custody. No one from the Ministry of Home Affairs has leaked it," Chidambaram told Parliament.

He said he would not comment on the correctness of what appeared in the newspaper and termed the media report as "unfortunate".  Chidambaram said "I reiterate the government's intention to present the report along with the ATR (Action Taken Report) before the house in the current session."

The other copy of the report is with the Commission. According to the report in Indian Express, the Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan Commission of Inquiry has indicted the three  among others, for the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992 and called them “pseudo-moderates” .
Citing the evidence it gathered, which includes witness statements and official records, one of the key conclusions of the Commission is said to be that the entire build-up to the demolition was meticulously planned. And there was nothing to show that these leaders were either unaware of what was going on or innocent of any wrongdoing.

The Liberhan Commission was set up 10 days after December 6, 1992, the day Babri Masjid was demolished. Communial riots had ravaged several parts of the country immediately after the incident.

The report, in all probability, will be tabled in the Parliament in December in the ongoing Winter session.
