Patna, Dec 5 (IANS) The parents of a schoolgirl, who was abducted Sep 18 from her home in Bihar, Wednesday demanded a CBI probe to trace her.
"We cannot wait any longer. The police have been repeatedly giving false assurances that they would recover my daughter. We demand a CBI probe," said Atulya Chakravorty, the father of the 13-year-old girl, who went missing in Muzaffarpur district.
The district police had Monday sought the help of the criminal investigation department (CID) to trace the girl.
"Only a CBI probe can solve the case because police have been under pressure to suppress the investigation," Chakravorty told IANS over phone from Muzaffarpur.
The missing girl, a Class 7 student of a public school in Muzaffarpur, was abducted from her home. Her name is being withheld for legal reasons.
Chakravorty said his daughter was abducted by property dealers since he had refused to give up prime land in Muzaffarpur.
Additional Director General Gupteshwar Pandey said he had requested Bihar Police chief Abhyanand to hand over the case to the CID.
Twelve police teams had been constituted to trace the girl, said Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar.
Last week, police recovered a skeleton from a drain near Chakravorty's house. But the girl's parents said the skeleton was not their daughter's.
