Chennai: A unit of Tamil Nadu Police with senior officials entered the Golden Bay Resort in Kovathur on Tuesday where AIADMK MLAs supporting Sasikala have been holed up for five days. V K Sasikala's brother Divakaran, and her nephew TTV Dinakaran, are also inside the resort.

Four state transport buses, led by two IGP rank officers, have entered the resort.

But three hours after the verdict, there is little sign of the MLAs leaving the resort. In a closed door meeting with Sasikala, the MLAs named Edapaddi Palaniswamy as the AIADMK legislative leader. The MLAs have said they won't leave the resort until the Governor meets them. Section 144 has now been imposed in Kuvatthur area in Kanchipuram district where the resort is, reports say.

Palanisamy is the Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports in Tamil Nadu.

He said the meeting of the AIADMK legislators was held at the Golden Bay Resort near here on Tuesday around 10.45 a.m.

Annexing the resolution electing him as leader of the legislature party, Palanisamy said: "This resolution is in supersession of the earlier resolution dated 05.02.2017."

The cops entered the premises after the Supreme Court upheld the original Justice conviction in the Disproportionate Assets Case against Sasikala. The court convicted Sasikala in case filed initially against the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and VK Sasikala and her family members. The 62-year-old Sasikala now faces four years in jail and will be barred from contesting elections for the next 10 years.
