Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday won from his Maninagar constituency.
Modi defeated Congress candidate Shweta Bhatt, wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt.
Maninagar is a Modi stronghold and he has held this seat since 2002. Modi, who is looking at a third consecutive term at the helm in Gujarat, defeated the Congress candidate by around 75,000 votes in 2007.
According to latest reports, the BJP is leading in 114 seats, while the Congress alliance is ahead in 65 seats.
There are 182 assembly seats in Gujarat and a party needs at least 92 seats to get a majority and form the government. (ANI)
