The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to charge Rs. 5 from everyone who wants to attend Gujarat Chief Minister and party strongman Narendra Modi's rally in Hyderabad next month, reports said.
The party reportedly said the money raised in the rally will be donated to aid the relief and rehabilitation efforts for Uttarakhand, which was massively hit by heavy rains last month.
It can be seen as an effort of BJP to showcase the popularity of Modi, as the party said Modi is such a large draw that he can attract crowds despite an entry fee.
BJP is expecting over one lakh audience to attend the rally on August 11, for which it has booked the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.
However, the venue can accommodate 30,000 people.
Modi is expected to address the youths in that rally.
