Dehradun: There is no let up in the unseemly sparring between Congress and BJP with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid being now called a "cockroach" by a BJP spokesperson after he described Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a "frog just out of the well".
"Do you think I look like a cockroach", Khurshid shot back today when asked about BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi's reamrk against him.
Lekhi, while voicing anger over Khurshid's frog barb, had too retorted with an indecorous remark, saying Khurshid doesn't look like or sound like the Foreign Minister of India, but sounds more like the Minister for Foreigners.
"And.... if Pakistan was to attack India with nuclear weapons, only one person will survive and that will be Salman Khurshid because only cockroaches can survive a nuclear attack," she said.
Replying to queries on the BJP's attack, Khurshid said as he emerged out of Doon University's auditorium here, "Cockroach? Do you think I look like a cockroach?"
Not to be outdone, he added, "Are you aware cockroaches don't die even in a nuclear attack."
Khurshid yesterday likened Modi to the proverbial frog just out of the well, fumbling for theright place for itself in the big wide world.
"What should I say about Modi? The frog is just out of the well and at a loss to find the right place for himselfin the big wide world," Khurshid had said.
Yesterday, BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman had voiced unhapiness that Congress leaders were using terms like "a frog which talks, monkey, a snake that bites, merchant of death and even guttersnipe" against Modi, accusing the ruling party of showing its "Modiphobia" with such remarks.
