Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL) that nationally provides telecom services under the brand MTS has partnered with India Unite to End Polio Now (IUEPN) campaign supported by UNICEF, for Polio Eradication Awareness campaign across five states - Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra - using telecom technology to spread the message.
As the telecom partner for the campaign, MTS will be sending out specially designed SMSs to its subscribers in all the states informing them about the upcoming Polio Rounds on Nov 4.
The SMS would read, "November 4 Ko Apne Bachche Ka Jeevan Polio Se Surakshit Banaaye. Har Baar Polio Ki Khuraq Pilaaye".
According to Ashoo Sethi, Chief Operating Officer, Mumbai Circle, MTS India, "Our partnership with IUEPN to create awareness for polio eradication is a part of the same endeavor.
"As communications partner for the program, our plan is to use the power of mobile technology to reach out to maximum number of people and notify them about getting their child secure against Polio."
Under the campaign, polio booths will be set up at multiple locations across all five states to administer polio drops to children.
The India Unite to End Polio Now (IUEPN) campaign is an initiative implemented by Aidmatrix Foundation, and supported by UNICEF and a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), World Health Organization (WHO), National Polio Surveillance Project (NPSP), Rotary International, and the U.S. Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
The India Unite to End Polio Now (IUEPN) campaign leverages private sector resources to enhance polio knowledge and vaccination throughout India, specifically targeting nomad and mobile populations.
