Mughal Gardens opened to public

New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS) The splendour and magnificence of the Muhgal Gardens at Rahstrapati Bhavan will be unveiled for the lay Friday as it will be opened to public for over a month, an official statement said here Tuesday.

"The Gardens will be open to the general public on all days from Feb 10 to March 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Entry into the Gardens will be open only up to 4 p.m," the statement said.

The Udyanotsav also houses the spiritual garden, the herbal garden, bonsai garden and the biodiversity park. The view promises floral carpets, the cactus corner and bonsais as its special attractions.

The concept of floral carpets, introduced for the first time, will accompany the 200 new bonsai plants.

The rectangular Mughal Gardens were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who laid out the architectural pattern of New Delhi capital city, and are adjacent to the main Rashtrapati Bhavan building.

"The Udyanotsav shall remain closed on every Monday, during this period on account of maintenance activities. It shall also remain closed Feb 15 for a programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan," the statement said. "It shall also remain closed March 8 on Holi festival," it added.

The entry and exit to the gardens will be from gate number 35 of the President's Estate, which is located near North Avenue at the extreme end of Church Road, about 300 metres west of the Cathedral Church of the Redemption.

The Gardens will open exclusively to physically challenged March 14 between 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. who can enter through the Rashtrapati Bhavan reception, gate No 2 or 37.
