Mulayam can support Cong to block BJP

Hamirpur (UP), Feb 15 (IBNS) Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said he could support the Congress after the poll results were out if it was needed to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) away.

"We will not support Congress. But we can support Congress only to keep the BJP away from power," Mulayam Singh told reporters after a rally a Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh.

He claimed that there is a wave in favour of his party.

UP is undergoing a highly charged assembly polls with the government of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati challenged by all the rivals, especially the Congress as the Nehru Gandhi clan has made it a prestige issue.

Rahul Gandhi had been eyeing the heartland state for more than a year now and worked hard to make the party´s presence felt much before the election and electioneering.

On Wednesday Uttar Pradesh witnessed the third phase of the polls.

Uttar Pradesh will go to vote in four more stages on Feb 19, Feb 23, Feb 28 and Mar 3.

Counting of votes is on March 6 along with all four other states that are going to elections this year.
