Mumbai: 92 blasts, over 2,500 dead in 20 years

​Three blasts rock Mumbai

​In all there have been 92 bomb blasts that have left over 2,500 people dead in Mumbai in the last two decades.

1989: A tiffin box stuffed with potassium chloride and sugar went off at Sewree railway station killing two people. The bombers had used sulphuric acid as a triggering device for the explosion.

1989: Two bombs went off at Kurla railway station and at Kanjurmarg railway station, both on the Central Railway network. The concoction of potassium cholride and sulphuric acid was used for the blasts.

1991: An RDX-laced explosive went off in a BEST bus depot at Ghatkopar. Two people, including a bus conductor, were killed in the blast.

1991: A blast in a local train on the Central Railway network caused 4 casualties when an RDX bomb went off.

1993: 12 synchronised bombs went off across the city killing a 188 people. Over 20 kg of RDX was used for each bomb, and was planted in a dozen locations in Mumbai.

1997: A low-intensity bomb went off near the Jama Masjid in south Mumbai injuring 3 people.

1998: A crude bomb went off in Malad leaving one person injured.

1998: A low-intensity RDX bomb exploded in a local train on the Western Railway network at Virar. Nine people were killed in the blast

2002: A blast in a BEST bus near Ghatkopar station killed 2 people

2002: A low-intensity bomb laced with gun powder exploded in a McDonald"s outlet at Mumbai Central Railway station. Over 25 people were injured

2002: A cycle bomb went off in Vile Parle killing one person and injuring 27 people.

2003: A bomb in a BEST bus killed one person near Ghatkopar

2003: Twin blasts at the Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazar killed 50 and left over 145 injured.

2006: Seven IEDs went off in the first-class compartments of the Western Railway network killing 209 people. Over 800 were injured

2008: Two taxis were blown to bits when RDX bombs went off soon after the militants opened fire at the Taj Mahal hotel and the Trident in Mumbai.
