Kolkata: Asserting that her life was dedicated to the cause of the common people, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tuesday said her government will never take any decision that goes against their interests.
"I do not have a family of my own. Whatever I have is yours and I belong to you. So long as I am alive, I will continue to work for the welfare of the people," Banerjee said while addressing a public meeting at Tamluk in East Midnapore district.
"I never think about myself and I have dedicated my life to you. This government does not belong to a political party but it is your government and so long as I am there, we will never take any decision that goes against the interest of the common people," the Trinamool Congress chief said.
Banerjee also said that the slew of projects announced by her government were being implemented as per schedule. She distributed land deeds to farmers under her project Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griha (own land, own house).
She also blamed the erstwhile Left Front government for the widespread unemployment and the critical financial crisis in the state.
"They (Left Front) have ruined the state under their rule. For the last few decades, there has been no employment generation. Under the new regime we have created over a lakh jobs and we will continue to do so. We will continue to work for the people in spite of all the financial hurdles," added Banerjee.
