Nagpur: India 297-8 at stumps

Riding on skipper Mahender Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli's fifth wicket partnership of 198 runs, India fought back against England and scored 297 runs for eight at stumps on the third day of the fourth Test match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Saturday.

England were all out for 330 runs in their first innings.

India still trails the visitors by 33 runs.

Resuming at the overnight score of 87 for four, Dhoni (99) and Kohli (103) added 198 runs in the fifth wicket partnership to help the home side fight back in the match.



Kohli hit a crucial knock of 103 runs off 295 deliveries. He hammered 11 boundaries in the innings.

Dhoni, however, missed his century and was run out on 99, shattering the hearts of his fans.

Indian skipper hit eight boundaries and a six in his important knock under pressure.

England picked up four quick wickets at the end of the day as India scored 297 for eight in their first innings at stumps on Saturday.

Graeme Swann picked up Kohli´s wicket and broke the 198-run partnership.

James Anderson picked up the wicket of debutant Ravinder Jadeja (12) as the English pacer scalped four wickets in the innings.

Swann ended the day with the wicket of Piyush Chawla (1) as R Ashwin (7*) remained not out at the crease.

India on Friday lost the wickets of Virender Sehwag (0), Gautam Gambhir (37), Sachin Tendulkar (2) and Cheteshwar Pujara (26).

England were all out for 330 runs in their first innings. Kevin Pietersen (73), Matt Prior (57), Joe Root (73) and Swann (56) made good contributions with their willows.

Indian spinner Piyush Chawla scalped four wickets by giving away 69 runs.

Ishant Sharma took three wickets while Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets in the innings. R Ashwin scalped the wicket of Prior.

England lead the series by 2-1 margin.
