Narrow escape for schoolchildren in Shimla

Shimla: More than 50 schoolchildren had a narrow escape in this Himachal Pradesh town when a tree fell on their classroom on Thursday evening, an official said.

'The students of a primary school at Dhalli (near here) escaped unhurt when a tree fell on their classroom,' Deputy Commissioner J S Rana told IANS.

He said the tree from a hill atop the school got dislodged due to rain and fell on the building.

According to the Met office here, Shimla experienced 25 mm of rain on Thursday.
