New Delhi/Male, Mar 2 (IBNS): Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has said he hopes India and the international community 'will intervene more robustly' in case he faces 'arrest again'.

"If I face arrest again, I hope India and the international community will intervene more robustly and make sure things remain on track," Nasheed told NDTV.

The former Maldives President, who had taken refuge in the Indian High Commission in Male, left the embassy last week.

Nasheed made the move of taking refuge inside Indian High Commission building after a Maldivian court issued an arrest warrant against him following his failure to attend a court hearing on Feb 10 in connection to the detention of Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdullah Mohamed last year.

Nasheed on Feb 7 last year resigned after public protests disrupted the island nation for weeks over his order to arrest Mohamed.
