New Delhi, Jan 18 (IBNS) The Indian government on Wednesday said it has been mutually agreed with terrorist outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland/Progressive (NDFB/P) to extend suspension of operations (SoO) for a further period of six months upto June 30.
"An agreement of Suspension of Operations (SoO) had been signed between Central Government (Home Ministry), Government of Assam and NDFB on 24.5.2005 and is in operation since 1.6.2005," said the government in a statement.
"In view of the involvement of some NDFB cadres in serial blasts in Assam, which took place on 30.10.2008, SoO Agreement with NDFB was revised on 6.1.2009. This is now valid upto 30.06.2012," read the statement.
NDFB a militant outfit active in lower Assam, particularly in Bodo dominated area, were indulging in violence, demanding sovereignty of Bodo area in Assam.
A Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) headed by JS(NE), Ministry of Home Affairs had been constituted to review the implementation of Agreed Ground Rules. Meetings of JMG have been held periodically.
