Pune FC's newly appointed head coach Mike Snoei made his intentions clear hinting about a touch of change and appreciated the club's philosophy to promote and develop youth in the coming years.
In his first official press conference since taking charge of Pune FC, the Dutchman said: "Results are definitely important. I personally hate to lose and want to introduce the same mentality in my players."
Snoei said, "I am happy to be in India, especially in Pune. I remember the first meeting with owner Nandan Piramal, where he stressed on the club's philosophy. My interest in this job is due to this particular view and I am willing to put in a lot of energy to achieve our goals."
He said, "I have done my research and want to help the club to take the next step. Pune FC has shown progress every year. Our collective goal is to develop youngsters. Our academy has done a fantastic job over the past couple of years winning consecutive Under-20 I-League championships."
On his targets at Pune FC, Snoei said, "Firstly, we are looking to sign good foreign players who would fit into our system. After the squad is finalised we will come up with realistic targets."
He said the club will try to create a right mix of youth and experienced players in the team.
He said, "We hope to create a right mix of youth and experienced players. This, in turn, will create a situation wherein youngsters will learn with quality players. A good overall football program will help create a better future for the club."
Speaking on developing youngsters, Snoei said: "Our main objective is to develop youngsters at the club. In this season, you will see good young players getting a fair chance in the first team. Striking the right balance is of utmost importance."
Answering questions on the Dutch brand of football, he said, "In Netherlands, we grow up wanting to play attractive offensive football with proper methods. Every country has a different culture and a way of playing. But it all depends on the team and adaptation."
"We have the basic targets in our mind and if we work in a proper system with patience we will definitely achieve them. However, primarily, we would like to play attractive football and try to win trophies with it," he said.
In his message to fans, Snoei said, "Fans are the most important part of a football club... I assure them that we will give our best to win trophies this season with a better footballing philosophy. With your support, we hope to achieve the best!"
