Deoghar: Nine people have been reported to be killed and 24 injured in a stampede at a religious event in Jharkhand. Eight of those killed were women.
All the victims are senior citizens and are reported to have died of suffocation.
The injured were taken to a local hospital.
The stampede occurred in Satsang Ashram in Deogarh where the devotees had gathered to celebrate the anniversary of Anukool Chandra. Many had gathered but reports citing official sources say there was no crowd management.
