Celebrating his seven years as chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on Saturday praised the performance of his government, and also flagged some the plans that it has on anvil for the immediate future.

Taking into account the various developmental steps initiated by his government, Kumar said that once looked down upon for its backwardness and lawlessness, Bihar has now become a role model of development for other states.

Talking about his much-talked demand- special status to Bihar, he said: " We have raised this issue and got consensus form the people of Bihar. If we get this privilege, it will certainly be an economic boon for the state."

"There is no area left where developmental work is not taking place. Our work is being appreciated by other states, and Bihar is now a model of development for them. Migration of people from the state has come down drastically," he added.

Lashing out at the opposition over their criticism regarding people's protest during JD-U's 'Adhikar Yatra', he said: "It is very clear that the so-called public protest against my government is totally sponsored. They are doing it out of frustration."

Kumar placed emphasis on his government's efforts in the field of governance, education, health and economic growth, and said people have given him the mandate to carry forward these works for welfare of the people of Bihar.

He added that he is committed to take the state forward on the road to progress.

Kumar is serving his second term as chief minister of a coalition government that is a combine of his JD-U and the BJP. (ANI)
