Ahead of the Winter Session of the Parliament, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has called on a meeting of her party Members of Parliament (MPs) on Saturday to discuss the plan to bring a no-confidence motion against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, media reports said on Friday.

"Trinamool Congress (TMC), however, has already made its intention clear, that it would vote against government if there is an Opposition-sponsored resolution in Parliament against FDI in retail," reported Business Standard.

"We have been in forefront of opposing FDI in multi-brand retail. We will definitely vote against the motion on FDI," senior TMC MP Saugata Roy was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

The UPA government is likely to face a tough time during the Winter Session beginning Nov 22.

Pertinently, the TMC is a former key alliance partner of the UPA government.

The relationship between Banerjee´s TMC and the UPA touched its lowest point when it withdrew support to the latter over its economic reforms, including FDI in multi-brand retail, hike in diesel price and cap on subsidy in LPG cylinders.

TMC with 19 MPs was UPA´s second biggest constituent and the biggest ally of the Congress party which spearheads the government.
