New Delhi, Jan 17 (IBNS) Observing that wider consultation was required before deciding on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the Delhi High Court on Tuesday said there was no evidence to back Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy's plea that EVMs can be rigged.
Claiming that EVMs are not fully transparent, the Janata Party chief had filed a petition demanding that receipt be giving for casting vote on the same.
Reacting to the court's decision, Swamy said, ''The court order does not reject any of my arguments. It accepts my basic premise that there are security issue involved in the EVMs.''
He said the court agrees that there is a chance of security breach in the EVMs.
"The court observed that in this fast growing technological progress and the material that I brought on record, there is a case that it is possible to rig the electronic voting machine and therefore the court has suggested that the Election Commission should immediately begin a process of wide consultation,'' he told the reporters.
