Washington: U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in his speech at a private fundraiser, claimed that Barack Obama considers business people 'a necessary evil', it has been revealed.
Romney's remarks have been revealed in a new audio recording of a private fundraiser earlier this year in Irvine, California.
According to the report by Mother Jones, Romney dramatically cast the election as a black-and-white contest with Obama waging a 'war on business and economic freedom.'
He repeatedly professed his "love" for business and, in particular, the business people before him.
Using supercharged rhetoric, he said that Obama had a beef against such people and viewed them as 'a necessary evil-and maybe not so necessary', the report said.
According to the report, Romney's wife, Ann, who accompanied her husband during the event, also expressed disdain for Obama, suggesting that the president was not a 'grown-up.'
"You know-the ship's going over the waterfall, it's almost there. And we look what's happening in Greece, and we look what's happening around the world, we look what's happening internationally," Ann had reportedly said.
"This is a frightening world, and we need a grown-up, and we need someone that understands the economy. So I'm glad...Mitt is grown up to you all," she added.
