Chennai: Leader of opposition in Tamil Nadu and founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) A. Vijayakant and four other party legislators have sought time with Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to discuss problems in their respective constituencies, said a party leader.

Speaking to reporters here Monday, V.C. Chandhirakumar, a legislator and the party's propaganda secretary, said his party leader and four other legislators have submitted a letter to the Speaker seeking time to meet Jayalalithaa.

There was much speculation in Tamil Nadu after four DMDK legislators met Jayalalithaa Friday and Saturday on the pretext of discussing welfare activities in their constituencies. There was speculation that the legislators were seeking to switch party loyalties.

On Friday, DMDK legislators R. Sundarrajan, representing Madurai Central, and K. Tamil Azhagan from Tittagudi constituency, met Jayalalithaa at the state secretariat.

On Saturday it was the turn of S. Michael Rayappan (Radhapuram constituency) and C. Arun Pandian (Peravurani constituency) to meet the AIADMK general secretary.

All the four legislators who had met Jayalalithaa maintained that they had discussed only the welfare activities of their constituencies.
