Odisha: 5 Maoists killed in encounter

Berhampur, Odisha, Nov 14 (IBNS): At least five Maoists were killed during an encounter in Odisha's Gajapati district on Wednesday, police said.

"All five Maoists were killed in the encounter while two our our men sustained injury," Gajapati superintendent of police Charan Singh Meena told IBNS.

Meena said they had specific information about the rebels and the encounter took place at around 10-30 am in the forest of Bhaliagada under Mohana police station area.

"We are still awaiting return of our team for detailed report," Meena said.

According to reports, the dead rebels belonged to Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda´s group.

Panda had recently formed the Odisha Maobadi Party after he was was expelled from the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
