An unusually big 'supermoon' was seen lighting up the sky theatre on Saturday night, offering a visual treat to curious sky gazers.
The phenomenon was special as the moon came closest to the earth in 18 years, rendering it the biggest and brightest full moon of the year.

The full moon at perigee appears about 14% bigger and 30% brighter than lesser moons that occur on the apogee, farthest point from the earth in its orbit. (Photograph copyright PTI)
