One arrested for peddling fake notes

A grocery shop owner counts rupees in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad

Rourkela: One person was arrested on charge of allegedly trying to peddle fake currency notes in the Cement City of Odisha's Rajgangpur.

Masid Choudhury of Gumla in Jharkhand who had come to Rajgangpur, was arrested for allegedly possessing fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 15,000.

"This morning, he tried to use one fake thousand rupee currency note in a grocery store. The shop keeper caught hold of Choudhury and handed him to the police," a police officer said.

"The alert shop keeper found the notes to be different and he immediately brought him to the police station. After verification, we took him into custody," S Panigrahi, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajgangpur, said.

The police recovered 24 five hundred rupee notes and three thousand rupee notes. SDPO informed that investigation was continuing to asertain about the fake currency note racket.
