Gurgaon, Dec 27 (IANS) Gunmen shot dead a security guard while trying to break into a warehouse Thursday, police said, prompting angry residents to block traffic on a major road for over three hours.

The auto spare parts warehouse of TVS Logistics at Jamalpur, 16 km from here, reportedly belonged to a Congress politician.

Five or six criminals attempted to barge in but faced resistance from the guards. One of them, Mukesh Kumar, was shot dead.

Furious villagers blocked traffic on the Pataudi-Rewari road, complaining that crime rate in the region was shooting up.
