One person was killed and over seven others were injured in a gas cylinder blast that took place in Gujarat's Surat city on Tuesday.
Pankaj Patel, a fire official present at the site, said that all the victims had suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to the nearby hospitals.
He said that explosion caused major damage and set aflame a few nearby houses.
"We got information regarding LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinder leak. We rushed to the site but when we reached we saw that cylinder had exploded. There were seven to eight casualties inside the house. Of them one had 80 percent burn injuries," said Patel.
"The blast took out the nearby walls causing a lot of damage and investigation is underway," he added.
Recalling the incident, Ajay, a victim, said that his roommate was cooking food at the time of the explosion.
"I had just woken up and ten minutes later the cylinder exploded. The blast knocked me out and after that I do not know what happened there after," said Ajay.
The houses have suffered massive damage with debris scattered all over the area. (ANI)
