Over the last 8 years this party has taught me a tremendous amount.Unsaid:
Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundations of modern India. Indira Gandhi brought about a huge lot of changes. Narasimha Rao ushered in liberalization. In contrast, 2004-13 has to be the most static era of Congress rule, where very few initiatives were taken and off late the government has been struggling to work on a day to day basis.
The years after 2009 have been those of absolute arrogance, as seen by the insensitive Congress spokespersons that have left no stone unturned in rubbishing the common people of India.
One shudders to think what you have learnt from all this and how you will implement it once you become PM.You Said:
In 1947 India was liberated not by arms, but by unleashing the voice of our people... India fought with non-violence and with voice... This was energy behind of Freedom Movement. Voices. Millions and millions of our voices.Unsaid:
If that is the case, then why is your party so ruthlessly suppressing the voices of the common people? It has been decades since such movements have been seen in India. First were the anti-corruption protests. After that came the anti-rape protests.
You have been mysteriously silent during all of this. In fact, the party is clearly scared by the “energy” of these “millions and millions” of voices. Anna Hazare was thrown in jail in 2011 and the recent anti-rape protestors were met with water cannons, police action and Section 144.
Online, it is an even sadder tale thanks to the draconian Section 66A. Your party has become the master of suppressing the common man’s voice and yet you mouth such downright hypocrisy! You Said:
I would like to repeat it: every single Indian is going to be supported by the Congress Party.Unsaid:
Really? Then why this angst against the Gujaratis just because they have voted for Narendra Modi as CM three times in a row. Your party doesn’t miss a chance to rubbish the Gujaratis.
Even when Amitabh Bachchan became a brand ambassador of Gujarat, he was met with disdain. Amitabh was the brand ambassador of a State and not a personal ambassador of Modi.
The people in the cities are also quite angry with your party, but you couldn’t care less because most of your support comes from rural areas. Your statement should actually read as, “I would like to repeat it: every single Congress voter is going to be supported by the party.” You Said:
...Manmohan Singhji is sitting here because he spearheaded another revolution. In 1991, he unleashed the voice of thousands in the field of entrepreneurship and changed this country forever.Unsaid:
Really? Manmohan was a total political non-entity in 1991. It was Rao who spearheaded the revolution and unleashed the voice of thousands in the field of entrepreneurship and changed this country forever.
Rao took the bold decision and was toying with the idea of who to make Finance Minister. He toyed with the idea of appointing one of two former RBI Governors he had in mind. Manmohan was lucky to be selected.
But I forget, for you the Congress is Dynasty and the Dynasty is Congress. Lal Bahadur Shastri and Rao are embarrassing aberrations in the history of Independent India. You Said:
...the RTI allows every single Indian to personally take on the battle against corruption...Unsaid:
The RTI was a civil society movement that began in the 1990s with Aruna Roy being the biggest proponent. State governments started implemented it and that’s when the UPA decided to follow suit.
While it is one of your achievements, I have two questions…
1. Why is your government desperately trying to clip its wings now?
2. Why is your mother out of its ambit? You Said:
The voices of a billion Indians are today telling us that they want a greater say in government, in politics and in administration. They are telling us that the course of their lives cannot be decided by a handful of people behind closed doors who are not fully accountable to them.Unsaid:
The fate of India has always been decided by a handful of people behind closed doors (the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty) who are not at all accountable to anyone. You Said:
Power is grossly centralized in our country. We only empower people at the top of a system. We don’t believe in empowering people all the way to bottom.Unsaid:
The Congress is the biggest enemy of decentralization. For the first 20 years, it held power in almost all the states, not just the Centre. When States started asserting themselves after that through non-Congress governments, Article 356 was used regularly with impunity.
When a humble High Court judge gave a verdict against Indira, instead of going to the Supreme Court, she declared Emergency. When TN Seshan started doing a brilliant job as Chief Election Commissioner, the very office was diluted.
When the CAG started pointing errors in government deals, they have been rubbished.
Not only does the Congress party believe in total centralization, within the party too all power is centralized with the dynasty. You Said:
Every single day, I meet people who have tremendous understanding, deep insight and no voice. And all of us meet them. They are everywhere. But almost always they are kept outside our systems.
All our public systems – administration, justice, education, political systems – all of them are designed to keep people with knowledge out. They are all closed systems.Unsaid:
This closed system has been created largely by your party and your family. Your saying it has absolutely no meaning unless you start bringing about a large change which is nowhere in sight. You Said:
Why is our youth angry? Why are they out on the street? They are angry because they are alienated and excluded from the political class. They watch from the sidelines as the powerful drive around in their lal battis.Unsaid:
When the anti-corruption and anti-rape movements were happening in India, you were merely watching from the sidelines! You Said:
We need the aam aadmi to participate in our politics. Because even as I speak their future is being decided in closed rooms.Unsaid:
Today you can enter politics and hope to make it big only if you are part of a dynasty or have mega bucks. An exception is someone like Arvind Kejriwal who has launched a party without the two and we all know what the Congress thinks of him.
Frankly the Chintan Shivir itself was a closed room where our future was decided without our consent!
An aam aadmi who will never have any hope of entering or influencing the political system thanks to the very system unleashed on this country by the dynasty and the Congress party.More From this Author: The Nehru-Gandhi dynasty: Fated to rule India
