Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has sought four days to appear before the police for allegedly making inflammatory speeches, latest reports said.
Owaisi has been booked in three different "hate speech" cases and was asked to appear before the police today.
The Andhra Pradesh leader returned from London early on Monday and was greeted by a large number of his supporters. He was in London for treatment of intestinal injuries that he had suffered when he was attacked by rivals over a land dispute.
A curfew has been imposed in Nirmal town of Adilabad district till 6pm on Monday to avoid untoward incidents.
On Saturday, Akbaruddin's brother and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi told NDTV that Akbaruddin would surrender once he returned from London.
"My brother will not run away from the law," he said.
