Canberra: The Australian police has announced a 100,000 dollar reward for information about the death of an Indian national in New South Wales, two years ago.

The partially decomposed body of Pardeep Kumar, 33, was discovered by a council worker in a drainage ditch in October 2009.

A subsequent post mortem declares that Kumar died from a wound to his throat, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

According to the report, despite exhaustive inquiries by detectives, the person responsible has never been located.

Detective Inspector Mick Stoltenberg said Kumar's violent death shocked the local community and has appealed again for help in finding his killer.

“Investigating officers still haven't been able to confirm what happened to Kumar but it's clear he suffered a violent death. We need the community's help to determine the circumstances surrounding his death, and to ultimately solve the crime,” the paper quoted Stoltenberg, as saying.

“We strongly believe there are people within the community who have knowledge of this murder, but they haven't yet spoken to police. It is also believed there are former community members who now reside overseas, particularly in India, who may also be able to assist,” he added.

In the hope of receiving new information, NSW Police Minister Michael Gallacher announced the reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Kumar’s death.
