Staff at the Australian radio station, which was behind the hoax call to the Duchess of Cambridge's hospital, have been forced into safe houses, it has been revealed.

Managers at Southern Cross Austereo - the parent company of 2Day FM - have recruited 24-bodyguards for their protection and police are investigating death threats.

One of the threats that have arrived recently is alleged to specifically target DJ Michael Christian saying that there are "bullets out there with your name on" and further threats involving a shotgun, the Daily Mail reported.

According to News.com.au, 10 senior staff members have now got personal protection costing 75,000 dollars a week and around 12 have been moved to hotels.

The threat against Christian is believed to have originated from South Australia and was delivered to the wrong address.

The threats come after Indian-origin nurse Jacintha Saldanha was found dead last Friday by a colleague and security guard. (ANI)
