The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has condemned the killing of over I00 people, mostly from minority Shia community in a series of bomb blast.

The commission has demanded that the government take immediate steps to clamp down on the murdering mayhem.

The commission said that in the first few days of 2013, the HRCP "finds itself lamenting for the second time large-scale sectarian bloodshed in the country," the Daily Times reports.

It pointed out that the callous targeting of members of the Hazara community in Quetta in two of those bombings on Thursday had caused the highest death toll for any sectarian attack in a day in Pakistan, the report said.

According to the paper, the group said that if the government had any "trepidation" about its failure to stem the "horrific spike in sectarian killings or the utter absence of its own writ, it has certainly done a good job hiding that".

It also raised questions over how in a city like Quetta the attackers could manage to get through security checks and strike it, the paper added. (ANI)
