Pak wants good relations with India: Zardari

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari hosted a dinner for visiting Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his delegation here on Tuesday and said that Pakistan wanted friendly relations with India.

He said there were tremendous opportunities for the two countries to enhance their cooperation for mutual benefit and stressed on the importance of exploring cooperation in fields such as education, health, and community development between the two countries, reports said.

Zardari said there existed a general consensus among the mainstream political parties in Pakistan to have good relations with India. "We want peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes for lasting peace in the region," he said.

Appreciating the "Bihar model of development", the President lauded it for its emphasis on social sector development particularly education, health, and community development.

Nitish thanked Zardari for warmly welcoming him and his delegation to Pakistan and said that the people of India also wanted friendly relations with Pakistan.
