Pakistan beat India by six wickets

Chennai, Dec 30 (IBNS) Pakistan beat India by six wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.

Riding on a fine unbeaten 101 by Nasir Jamshed, Pakistan achieved the target of 228 runs with 11 balls to spare.

Jamshed and former skipper Younis Khan (58) were involved in a crucial 112-run stand for the third wicket after Pakistan made a poor start losing the first two wickets for 21 runs on board.

Earlier put in, India made a disastrous start losing five wickets for 29 runs but a captain´s knock of unbeaten 113 by Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped the team put on a competitive 227 runs for six in 50 overs.

Dhoni, who battled cramps, was involved in two crucial partnerships, 73 for the sixth wicket with Suresh Raina (43) and 125-run unbeaten stand for the seventh wicket with local boy Ravichandran Ashwin (31 not out) that helped India get past the 200-run mark.
