Islamabad, May 11 (IANS) The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Saturday congratulated the people of the country for showing faith in democracy despite threats to their lives.

In a statement issued after the conclusion of polling‚ the commission condemned all those responsible for interfering with the people's right to vote, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

The HRCP expressed hope that those elected will honour the principles of democracy with the same zeal and commitment that the Pakistani people displayed during balloting.
