Islamabad, Sep 19 (IANS) Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday said the government would consult all political parties and the army on decisions of national importance, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

"The government should be given time and space as we assure that consultation would be done with all the stakeholders, including political parties and the army," the minister said during a joint sitting of parliament.

On containing violence in Karachi, he said action was started on the initiative of the federal government after taking on board the provincial governments and all other parties.

"It is for the first time in the history that action is being taken with the collaboration of federal and provincial governments of two different parties who are in the government and the opposition at the federal and Sindh level," Khan said.

He lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and said both the federal and provincial governments were fulfilling their responsibilities for the safety and security of people.

The minister said the action was started after consensus with all political parties in All Party Conference as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had desired to bring normalcy to the province.

He claimed that the incidents of target killing and other crimes have come down in the city.

"Terrorists are running out of Karachi and they would not find any place to hide and brought to justice. If we continue working like this, then a day will come when the anti-state elements will completely be wiped out," Khan said.

He said nearly 250 terrorists have fled Karachi after the paramilitary Rangers launched operations and they have now entered the Waziristan tribal region.

He assured the house there would be no politics on the issue. "Politicking this action will be a sin. Anybody playing politics on this committed effort will otherwise expose himself," the minister said.
