New Delhi, Sept 1 (IBNS) An Indian Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and three Pakistani soldiers were killed in cross-firing after ceasefire was violated at Keran sector in north Kashmir, reports said on Thursday.
According to reports, Pakistanis violated the ceasefire twice after the Indian side foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC).
"There were two ceasefire violations in Keran sector of Kupwara district from across the Line of Control. The first one was at 2000 hours Wednesday. It continued for over 50 minutes. The second ceasefire violation began at 1100 hours today," Defence spokesman Lt Colonel J S Brar told media on Thursday.
The killed JCO has been identified as Naib Subedar Gurdayal Singh. Brar said the first ceasefire violation took place at 2000 hours yesterday and the firing from other side of LoC continued for nearly 50 minutes.
According to reports, the Pakistani troops at Saheli post opened 'unprovoked' firing and used mortars and heavy weapons to attack the Indian side, which later retaliated.
