Parliamant adjourned after Vilasrao's death

Both Houses of the Indian Parliament were adjourned for the day as a mark of respect to Union Minister for Science and Technology and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who died in a Chennai hospital on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shide announced Deshmukh´s death the Lok Sabha.

"I have to inform with great grief that my colleague Vilasrao Deshmukh has passed away," Shinde told the Lower House of the Parliament.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal announced the death of Deshmukh in the Rajya Sabha.

"Vilasrao Deshmukh is no more," Bansal said in the Upper House of the Parliament. "He has just passed away."

Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day.

Deshmukh died of multiple organ failure in a Chennai hospital on Tuesday. He was 67.

He was reportedly suffering from a serious liver ailment and multiple organ failure.
