Nashik: People For Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India Head Anuradha Sawhney will be presented a 'Woman Achiever Award' for "outstanding work in defending animals" by an environmental trust.
Sawhney will be presented the award at a function in Mumbai on March eight, celebrated as Women's Day across the globe, by the Young Environmentalists Programme Trust, a release issued here said.
Under Sawhney's leadership, PETA has asked West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to end deadly laboratory experiments, exposed cruel lab conditions at National Institute of Virology at Pune leading to rehabilitation of 39 animals, secured a ban on entry of elephants in the city to reduce dangers to them, among other things, the release said.
