London, Sep 30 (IANS) A British philanthropist died in a final tragic act of courtesy, a media report said Thursday.
Jimi Heselden, one of the most generous men in Britain, accidentally reversed his two-wheel Segway scooter over a cliff, to save a walker, The Sun reported. The kind-hearted tycoon then plunged 50 feet to his death.
'It was a freak accident and a complete tragedy. We believe he died instantly. His death was the result of a final act of courtesy and kindness which was typical of him,' a source close to the investigation said.
Jimi, 62, gave away more than 25 million pounds to charities in the past two years.
The former Yorkshire miner, who had a personal fortune of over 160 million pounds, had ironically bought the Segway company in the past 12 months.
